JANUARY

PROGRAM:
“Everything Daylilies”

SPEAKER:
Cynthia Druckenbrod – Horticulturist and Daylily Hybridizer

Cynthia will take us on a journey through the world of daylilies. They are her love and her passion. This meeting is in preparation for our visit to her home in July to actually see the daylilies in bloom.

PROGRAM:
“Wildflowers on Naked Mountain”

SPEAKER:  
Marcia Mabee

Marcia has developed Naked Mountain as a natural area preserve where she has identified and cataloged rare botanical discoveries. She is an author and an avid conservationist. This should be a rare chance to hear about wildflowers and conservation from a special lady in the field.

APRIL

PROGRAM:
“From Seed to Flowers in 1 Hour’s Time”

SPEAKER:  
John Urbanowicz 

John will take us through his nursery Urban Growers and tell us how a nursery grows their plants for sale. This is an owner who loves his work and thoroughly enjoys sharing with people how he grows the most gorgeous flowers. We will tour the nursery and have lunch first and then proceed to the retail shop 

MAY

PROGRAM:
“Welcome Summer with a Container Planter” 
A hands-on project

SPEAKER:  
BREMEC’S STAFF

We will once again enjoy learning a new project taught by Bremec Nursery’s friendly and competent staff. We will be making a container of your choice. There will be a charge for the plants.

JUNE

PROGRAM:
“Essential Oils…Awaken Your Senses”

SPEAKER:  
Chrystyna Prochaska
Certified Aromatherapist and Holistic Health Practitioner

Chrystyna will guide us through the ins and outs of essential oils. We will have an opportunity to experience a variety of oils up close and personal. We will also make a sample product to take home.

JULY

PROGRAM:
“The Wonder of Daylilies”

SPEAKER:  
Cynthia Druckenbrod – Horticulturist and Daylily Hybridizer

Cynthia will give us a tour through “Lily Creek Gardens” where we will see her daylilies in all their true glory! We will meet early when the lilies are at their best. The variety in her garden will amaze you.

AUGUST

PROGRAM:
“The World of Fiber Dying and the Plants They Use“

SPEAKER:  
Jessica Pinsky, MFA – Executive Director, Praxis

Jessica will lead us on a tour of this new facility. As the Director, she relocated the weaving department from the Cleveland Institute of Art to create Praxis Fiber Workshop. We will lunch at Praxis and then car pool to her newly planted Indigo garden.

SEPTEMBER

PROGRAM:
“A Tour of the Museum of American Porcelain Art”

SPEAKER:  
Carey Barone

We will tour the new Museum of American Porcelain Art. The Garden Club of Cleveland toured the museum – so why not the prestigious Town & Country as well! We have slipped into this wonderful new place on the Cleveland landscape. The museum was founded by Richard Barone, Carey’s father, in 2014. This is definitely a must-see in Cleveland!

OCTOBER

PROGRAM:
“Sustainability Part II”

SPEAKER:  
Leigh Ann Lomax

Ms Lomax is the manager of horticulture and facilities at the Cleveland Zoo and will be talking on sustainable practices at the zoo.

DECEMBER

PROGRAM:
“Holiday Greens Workshop”
Hands-On Project

SPEAKER:

Get creative and get into the holiday spirit with your fellow club members. The project is TBA.

JANUARY

PROGRAM:
“The Wonderful World of Ohio Owls“

SPEAKER:
Judy Semroc
Conservation Specialist CMNH

Judy comes to us via The Natural History Museum. She is an author and a much sought-after speaker. Judy will give us all the wonderful details about our native Ohio owls.
