MARCH: “The Native Woodland Garden”
SPEAKER: Garrett Ormiston, Steward of Natural Areas Division
Natural History Museum

What is all the hubbub about native plants? Garrett
will be talking to us about native woodland plants and
why they can be so special in your garden – especially
in the shade.
 

 
APRIL: “How to Build a Farm”
SPEAKER: Ben Bebenroth, The Spice Companies
Chef, Founder, Farmer

A rare opportunity to visit Spice Acres, a 13 acre
Countryside Conservancy farm in the Cuyahoga Valley
National Park. Come learn from the best!
 

 
MAY: “Having Fun with Herbs” (a hands-on project)
SPEAKER: Nursery Staff – Bremec Nursery

We will once again enjoy getting our hands “in the dirt”
when the experts at Bremec’s help us make a project
with herbs. This program ties in with what we learned
at our January meeting. Specific details to follow.
 

 
JUNE: “The Art of Handmade Papermaking”
SPEAKER: Staff of Morgan Conservatory

The Morgan Conservatory is the largest arts center in
the U.S. dedicated to every facet of papermaking,
book arts and letterpress printing. We will get to see
their gardens which boast the largest paper mulberry
tree in the U.S. and their “dye” garden.
 

 
JULY: “Hydroponics”
SPEAKER: Staff of Eddy’s Fruit Farm

We will visit this working farm that has been in the
Eddy family since 1869 offering the finest fruit to
families in NE Ohio. Today we will learn about
Hydroponics, the method of growing plants using
mineral nutrient solutions, in water, without soil.
 

 
AUGUST: “An Enchanted Evening with Friends”
SPEAKER: none

Because of the overwhelming positive response from
our members, we are again having the opportunity to
enjoy an evening with friends in a beautiful setting.
This will be a potluck dinner – Spouses and Significant Others are invited.
 

 
SEPTEMBER: “Orchids Galore”
SPEAKER: Kim and Edgar Stehli, Owners

We will visit a 1,300 sq. ft. tropical jungle in this orchid
greenhouse and get a birds-eye view of how orchids of
every variety and color thrive. The Stehlis supplied
some of the orchids for Orchidmania at CBG.
 

 
OCTOBER: “Rain Gardens”
SPEAKER: Nature Center Volunteer

This nature center is one of Aurora’s best kept
secrets. The Moebius Nature Center exists to
promote the enjoyment, respect and preservation of
nature through education. We will learn the how-to and
benefits of rain gardens.
 

 
DECEMBER: “Botanical Spirits”
SPEAKER: Cynthia Druckenbrod, VP of Horticulture CBG
Malou Monago, VP of Development CBG

Cynthia and Malou will help get us in the “spirit” of the
season by showing us how to concoct special botanical
drinks.
